Foam fire suppression systems are a necessity for many areas where water fire suppression and sprinkler systems are not enough. Foam fire suppression systems tend to move faster, spread farther and reduce flames faster than water, while also preventing reignition. These materials are available in many different forms each that is best fitted to a particular use and situation.
Foam fire suppression systems may be used in enclosed areas where fires quick elimination and fast spreading is required to cover the area, such as storage spaces or hangers. Other foam suppression materials are used to eliminate especially hot, fast-burning or fast-spreading flames, such as those from chemicals, oils or flammable liquids. Foam fire suppression and fire protection materials prevent ignited liquids from dispersing, unlike water, and also coat the surrounding area to prevent the fire from spreading.
